Prism Awards 2012: Castle, Jon Huertas, Stana Katic honored

The Entertainment Industries Council, Inc. (EIC) held their 16th Annual PRISM Awards this week in Beverly Hills. The PRISM Awards honor television and film productions and performances that accurately depict drug, alcohol and tobacco use and addiction, as well as mental health issues in entertainment productions.Performance awards are presented to those actors who displayed unparalleled authenticity in their portrayals of characters in productions related to mental health and/or substance use issues including alcohol use, illegal drug use, prescription drug use, depression, suicide, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, bipolar, and other related topics.

In the television drama category, the ABC drama "Castle" was honored for the storyline they did on PTSD.

Performance in a Drama Episode was earned by ABC’s "Castle" stars Jon Huertas and Stana Katic. The show was also honored with the award for the “Kill Shot” episode in the Drama Series Episode – Mental Health category.

Huertas was on hand to accept the award in person and face-timed Stana in with his iPhone where she joined the show by video to give her acceptance speech.

Also nominated in the category were CSI: Crime Scene Investigation – “Brain Doe,” "Harry’s Law" – “Queen of Snark,” "Rookie Blue" – “Bad Moon Rising” and "The Secret Life of the American Teenager" – “When One Door Opens.”

The award was presented to Jon and Stana by their Castle co-stars Susan Sullivan and Seamus Dever.
