Niecy Nash talks Emmys, receiving a Television Advocacy Award, 'Scream Queens' and more

This year’s Emmys weekend was special for nominees Jill Soloway (Transparent), Tony Hale (Veep), Michael Kelly (House of Cards), Niecy Nash (Getting On) and Derek Hough (Dancing with the Stars) as they were honored at the Television Industry Advocacy Awards for their efforts to use their celebrity for social changed.

They were joined by fellow honorees Reid Scott (Veep), Dean Norris (Under the Dome) and Sandra Lee (Good Morning America) as TV Guide and TV Insider hosted the ceremony and featured each of the honorees a special section of TV Guide Magazine and its companion site, TVInsider.com. Wendi McLendon-Covey (The Goldbergs) served as the evening's host and also presented former co-star Niecy Nash with her honor.

TVMusic Network caught up with Niecy Nash ahead of the ceremony. The actress talked about her work with the Amazing Grace organization. She also shared her thoughts on her chances of winning the Emmy (Nash is nominated for Outstanding Actress in a Comedy for the HBO comedy "Getting On"), where she would put the Emmy should she win (Nash lost to Julia Louis-Dreyfus for "Veep") and previews the upcoming season for her character on "Scream Queens."
