Dancing With The Stars Highlights:

"Dancing With The Stars" airs Mondays with the Result Show on Tuesdays on ABC.

Last Days Here: the story of Pentagram and lead singer Bobby Liebling

"Last Days Here" tells the story of Bobby Liebling, lead singer of the 70s cult heavy metal rock band Pentagram. From filmmakers Don Argott and Demian Fenton, this documentary looks at all facets of Bobby's life.

As Bobby's friend and manager Sean "Pellet" Pelletier tries to revive his career, Bobby struggles with trying to stay alive.

The movie features interviews with fans and former band member telling stories about how close Pentagram came to making it and then just not.

Bobby's years of heavy drug addiction is highlighted in the movie. It sends the message that It provides a hard and realistic look at the toll that living by the code of "sex, drugs, and rock n roll" can take on one's body and mind. Fenton and Argott say that they never set out to make a "roc doc" but that is exactly what they have made.

The story isn't all rock n roll, however, but also about Bobby's journey from the bottom to him and his band finally breaking through and achieving their goals.

The true stars of this film, however, are Bobby's long suffering and loving parents, who stick by their child through thick and thin, even letting him live in their basement over the years.

"Last Days Here" is playing in theaters in across the country. For showtimes, visit: LAST DAYS HERE

Interview: Stan Lee talks Romeo and Juliet: The War, The Avengers, Big Bang Theory (video)

March 25, 2012
From LA Sitcom ExaminerProlific comic book legend Stan Lee was on hand at  Barnes and Noble at The Grove for the signing of his latest project, a graphic novel entitled “Romeo and Juliet: The War.”
The book by 1812 Comics, tells the story that William Shakesphere created in a reimagining that highlights the the romance of the story as well as the action. The book modernizes the story and uses Lee’s incredible imagination to bring the project to light.  The book is a giant-sized coffee table book that is sure to be a collectable for all Stan Lee fans.
Everyone knows the story of Romeo and Juliet as told in the book. This version tells the story of two groups of superhuman soldiers who turn the Empire of Verona into the most powerful territory on Earth. The Montagues, powerful cyborgs made of artificial DNA, and the Capulets, genetically-enhanced humans known for their speed and agility, who work in tandem to destroy all threats to Verona. With no one left to fight, they have a new enemy - each other.
When a young Montague boy and Capulet girl fall in love, they secretly plan to marry, hoping their union will bring peace to the warring factions. But forces beyond their control begin to conspire against them, threatening their love, their lives…and the Empire of Verona.
LA Sitcom Examiner was one of the lucky reporters on hand to talk to Stan and his Romeo and Juliet partners, authors Terry Dougas and Max Work, to talk about the project and Stan also addressed if he’d return to reprise the role of "himself" in any upcoming episodes of “The Big BangTheory.”

Chatting with Once Upon A Time creators/executive producers Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis (video)

March 23, 2012
From co-creators/executive producers Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis (Lost, Tron: Legacy), the imaginative new ABC fantasy drama Once Upon A Time, tells the story of a time when there was an enchanted forest filled with all the classic fairy tale characters that we know. Then one day, the Evil Queen cursed them all to live in the modern world, in a sleepy New England town called Storybrooke, where all of their happy endings were stolen and they had no memory of their former selves. With the epic battle for the future of all worlds about to begin, audiences will get glimpses of darkness and wonder, as the magic of the most beloved fairytales is brought to life.
"Once Upon a Time" stars Ginnifer Goodwin as Snow White/Mary Margaret, Jennifer Morrison as Emma Swan, Robert Carlyle ("The Full Monty," "Trainspotting," "SGU Stargate Universe") as Rumplestiltskin/Mr. Gold, Lana Parrilla as Evil Queen/Regina, Eion Bailey as August, Jared Gilmore as Henry, Josh Dallas as Prince Charming/David and Raphael Sbarge as Jiminy Cricket/Archie.

I caught up with the two of them at their press junket at this year's WonderCon where they screened the latest episode of their hit series, which is likely to be renewed for season two.
Check out the video below to hear what they had to say about Snow's darkside and their thoughts on adding new characters to the show.

On Saturday, April 14, Walt Disney's Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs will screen at Grauman's Chinese Theatre at 1 p.m. This film revolutionized the art of animation.  Snow White and her story are more popular than ever with two movies, "Snow White and The Huntsman" and "Mirror, Mirror," coming out and with ABC's newest hit drama "Once Upon A Time."

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences bestowed a special Academy Award on Walt Disney, recognizing Snow White as "a significant screen innovation which has charmed millions and pioneered a great new entertainment field." The unique Oscar trophy consisted of one full-sized statuette standing next to seven miniature versions. The film also earned an Oscar nomination for Leigh Harline's memorable score.
In 1997, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was named one of the 100 Greatest Films of All Time by the American Film Institute (AFI). The following year, the AFI named it the greatest American animated film of all time.

On Friday, April 13, at 2:45 p.m., Hollywood legend Kirk Douglas will be present at Grauman's
Chinese Theatre for the first public screening of the newly restored 1954 adventure film epic,
20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, the first live-action feature film shot at Walt Disney's Burbank
studios. Disney recruited an A-list cast including Kirk Douglas, James Mason and Paul Lukas,
and a set budget of $9 million, the largest in Hollywood history at that time.

Walt Disney had originally planned to turn Jules Verne's tale of Captain Nemo's battle to wipe
out warfare into an animated feature. But when he saw designer Harper Goff's preliminary
sketches, he decided to make the switch to live action. To film the massive production – the
studio's first in CinemaScope – Disney added a water tank and a third soundstage to his
studio, rented additional space from 20th Century-Fox and Universal, and sent cast and crew
to the Caribbean for underwater shooting. His technicians also had to develop new equipment
for the film's many underwater scenes and create a giant, two-ton squid for the film's most
impressive sequence.

20,000 Leagues Under the Sea went on to earn two Oscars®, one for the eye-popping visual
effects and one for John Meehan and Emile Kuri's art direction and set decoration. The film
earned a third nomination for Elmo Williams' editing.
Operation Undersea, an episode of the Disneyland TV series highlighting the creation of the
film, won Emmys® for Best Individual Program of the Year (1955) and Best Television Film

Dark Shadows: trailer for Johnny Depp's and Tim Burton's latest collaboration released (trailer)

March 16, 2012
The jury is still out from this "Dark Shadows" lover on the new trailer for Tim Burton's re- imagining of the cult soap opera "Dark Shadows." The soap ran on ABC daytime beginning in the late 60s and ended in 1971. The movie, based of this trailer is too campy and "Burton-esque" to tell the tale of the flawed but rootable Barnabus Collins played by Johnny Depp. I'm reserving full judgement for May 11th when the movie is released. I'm hoping that the storytelling and Depp's acting will curb my doubts about it. Check out the trailer below:

The series stars David Giuntoli as Nick with Bitsie Tulloch, Hank Griffin, Silas Weir Mitchell, Reggie Lee and Sasha Roiz rounding out the cast. No word if the show will remain in its timeslot or on Friday, which has been a traditiaonally difficult night to program. The freshman series managed to hold its on oppoisite CBS famiily cop show "Blue Bloods." "Blue Bloods" has been renewed as well and will return for season three.

Movie Review- Friends with Kids Starring Jessica Westfeldt, Adam Scott and Chris O'Dowd

Adam Scott and Jessica Westfeldt star in "Friends with Kids."

If Harry and Sally had decided to have a baby somewhere in the middle of falling in love, you'd have "Friends With Kids." The romantic comedy opening today stars Jessica Westfeldt (who also wrote and directed the movie) and Scott as Julie and Jason, a pair of best friends and the only non-married singles in their circle of friends.

After witnessing what having kids do their best friends marriages, the two of them decide to save themselves the trouble with marriage and make plans to have a baby. They agree to all of the commitments to the child without the romantic commitment to each other. "I promise to be 100% committed half the time," they pledge to each other before the conception. By the end of the movie, they realize (at different times of course) that they love each other and belong together.

The movie has terrific scenes of the two of them once the baby arrives; getting their homes ready and taking turns feeding the baby, all in the form of a montage. Personally, I would have like to have seen those scenes expanded including the nine months that Julie carried the child.  Westfeldt and Scott have amazing chemistry that could have been utilized more. In fact, the movie covers too much ground (and years – more than 6 years?) in its short span of movie time.

The strong supporting cast is terrific but underused. With "Bridesmaids" actors Maya Rudolph, Kristen Wiig, Jon Hamm (Westfeldt's real-life love) and Chris O'Dowd in the cast, one might have expected more of an ensemble, given the title and the movie poster picture, but not.
Ed Burns and Megan Fox play the significant others who help the two of them realize that they can't live without the other and their non-traditional family.  All of the predictable plot points are there but laid out in a clever, funny and interesting way.

The movie doesn’t ignore the controversy surrounding the subject of raising children out of wedlock and smartly tackles the issue.

Best friends Leslie (Rudolph) and Alex (O'Dowd) discuss the subject, with Leslie wondering if their friends are insulting marriage and all they believe in. Jason’s parents aren’t receptive to the idea, basically ignoring everyone in the room, including the baby when they arrive to the hospital to meet their grandson for the first time. Ben (Hamm) challenges Jason about his true commitment to Julie during an argument at one of their dinner parties.

All in all, there are lots of moments in the movie worth watching, including the child birthing scene and any scenes with the kids.

"Friends With Kids" is in theaters now.
