Lifetime to air 'Who Killed Jon Benet' original movie

Lifetime will air an original movie based on the life of Jon Benet Ramsey, whose murder twenty years ago captured the world's attention and the case that remains unsolved. The network will debut a four-hour block dedicated to the life and death of JonBenét Ramsey with the premiere of the two-hour movie, Who Killed JonBenét?, centering on the true story about the six-year-old beauty queen whose murder in her Colorado home remains unsolved.

"Who Killed JonBenét?" premieres on Saturday, November 5 at 8pm ET/PT and stars Eion Bailey (Band of Brothers), Michel Gill (Mr. Robot), Julia Campbell (Romy and Michele's High School Reunion) and Payton Lepinski as JonBenet.

Immediately following the premiere of the film at 10pm ET/PT, the two-hour special JonBenét's Mother: Victim or Killer? delves into the real Patsy Ramsey, the person most people believe killed JonBenet. The special reconstructs her life as a socialite, beauty queen, wife, mother and suspected killer, and digs deep into the mind and actions of this mysterious woman. The special features people who have never spoken publicly, taking a fresh look at the crime and examines the evidence through the lens of modern forensic technology.

"Who Killed JonBenét?" provides a closer look into what exactly happened the day after Christmas 1996, when she was found beaten and strangled in the family's basement. With the addition of recently surfaced information, the film takes a fresh look at the events and the competing theories about the murder.
Were Patsy (Campbell) and John (Gill) Ramsey responsible or covering for someone else in the family? Was this a kidnapping gone wrong, or was this the work of a predator who had seen JonBenét in one of her pageants? Twenty years after the tragic events, the question remains: Who killed JonBenet?

Interview: Executive Producer Al Jean talks 'The Simpsons' Season 28, 600th episode milestone

September 25, 2016
Mr. Burns and The Simpsons in the Season 28 premiere episode. (Cr.FOX)
"The Simpsons" is back for Season 28 with a very special premiere episode on Sunday, September 25th on FOX. The iconic show shares the special night as a part of FOX's Animation Domination on Sunday nights.

Comedian and actress Amy Schumer will guest voice on all three shows — “The Simpsons,” “Family Guy,” and “Bob’s Burgers.”

On “The Simpsons,” premiere episode entitled “Monty Burns’ Fleeing Circus,” Schumer plays Mr. Burns mom. When Springfield is burned to the ground, the Simpsons beg Mr. Burns to fund its rebuilding. Burns agrees – with one condition: he gets to put on a variety show at the Springfield Bowl.

"[Schumer will guest voice] across all three animated shows on this Sunday on premiere night on FOX,” previews “The Simpsons” executive producer, Al Jean on a press call. “Because this is something where all three of us said well, we’re going to do a musical-themed episode and we’re going to try to get the same guest star, we said oh, let’s go for a woman who is funny—Amy Schumer fits most of those qualities. We said a good character for our plot would be that she’s Burns’ mother in the past and kind of the source of this unhappiness that he has that’s haunted him to the present. She recorded it over the phone, and she was very funny. It’s not a huge part, but that was because, again, we didn’t have the actress until a little late in the process that we knew who was going to be in all three shows.”

Jean and staff are gearing up for the milestone 600th episode of as well. The “Treehouse of Horror XXVII” episode will air Sunday, October 16at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT.

"We weren’t sure which one was going to be the 600th, “ Jean said. “We were just doing a Treehouse show. It came out, even by our standards for those episodes which are quite high, we thought very well...At that point, we thought it would be—what was great was the 600th episode will air October 16th, so we could make that the Treehouse and it wouldn’t be out of place.

There’s a special beginning and there’s a third thing, I can’t say it, but there’s three—the 1st and the 100th episode Bart wrote on the chalkboard, “I will not celebrate meaningless milestones,” so we’ve made sure to really celebrate this one."

With so many milestones over the years in remarkable 28 seasons, Jean reflects on which "The Simpsons" moments are most memorable for him.

“Well, the beginning was really special,” Jean tells TVMusic Network.  “The 400th ironically, it just so happened to be the last episode before The Simpson’s Movie came out so that was a time that was a lot of work but also memorable, and I think 600 is great.  I mean, there’s only one other scripted show that’s every gotten this far in the US— ‘Gunsmoke, ‘and to get this far is really, I have to say it, we’re proud of ourselves.”

Catch the “The Simpsons” season premiere Sunday, September 25 at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT and the 600th episode, “Treehouse of Horror XXVII” on Sunday, October 16at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT.

'Empire': what to expect ahead of Season 3's premiere

(Terrance Howard and Taraji P. Henson/FOX)
"Empire’s" Season 3 premiere is tonight and here’s a recap to get you all caught up and some previews to let you know what to expect ahead of the premiere.

When Season 2 ended, there was so much going on. The Lyons boys were having a rough night. Jamal (Jussie Smollett) was still recovering from being shot and Hakeem (had just been left at the alter after Shine (new series regular Alvin Nathaniel Joiner, aka Xzibit) and his entourage crashed the wedding.

Elsewhere, Rhonda and Anika were on the balcony having a good old-fashioned cat fight after Rhonda suspected and confirmed that Anika (Grace Gealey) was the one who pushed Rhonda (Kaitlin Doubleday) down the stairs causing her to lose her child with Andre.

Their parents were having a rough time of it as well. Luscious (Terrance Howard) had just found out that he had a brother, Tariq (Morocco Omari), the federal officer who is on a mission to take him down once and for all.

And Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) was upset with Luscious when he made the decision to marry Anika just as the Feds were coming after her to tell all that she knew of Luscious’ dealings.

TVMusic Network got a chance to see the explosive episode, entitled “Light in Darkness” and here’s what you can expect.

Someone Dies

With the show ending on the biggest cliffhanger ever, we find out right away who didn’t survive the nasty fall – Anika or Rhonda and the aftermath plays all throughout the episode.

New music and new artists

Since Empire is a record company, you can expect plenty of music. A new singer comes into the forefront - Nessa, played by R&B artist Sierra McClain. Nessa is a protégé of Luscious’ arch rival “Shine” played by Xhibit. Nessa is sure will mix it up with Hakeem based on their first meeting. Label mate, Tiana (Serayah), is not going to like the competition - for Hakeem’s attention and for the music spotlight.

Young Cookie and Young Luscious

We get to see how these two characters met through a series of flashbacks giving us insight into who they were then that led then to the people they are today.

Family Ties

Tarik gets to know the family when he is invited for dinner but are his motives in the interest of brotherly love or is he hoping to finally make an arrest.

Catch the season premiere of "Empire" Wednesday, September 21 at 9:00 p.m. on NBC.

'Atlanta' and 'Better Things' get Season 2 renewals by FX

September 20, 2016

"Alfred Miles" (Brian Tyree Henry) is a new hot rapper trying to understand the line between real life and street life. "Darius" (Lakeith Stanfield) is Alfred's right-hand man and visionary.

"Better Things" centers on Sam Fox (Pamela Adlon), a single, working actor with no filter raising her three daughters, Max (Mikey Madison), Frankie (Hannah Alligood) and Duke (Olivia Edward) in Los Angeles. Sam is flawed and fierce with her love for her daughters, and her own mother, as well. Sometimes, heaping the love on when she feels guilty. Sam's just trying to earn a living, navigate her daughters' lives, have fun with a friend or two and also - just maybe - squeeze in some private time once in a while.
