Daytime Emmys 2018: what to expect from the Sunday Ceremony

The Daytime Emmy Awards is 24 hours away and this year's ceremony is sure to be full of nostalgia and celebration. Mario Lopez and Sheryl Underwood serve as the night's hosts.

The Daytime Emmy Awards 2018 are this Sunday live from the Pasadena Civic Auditorium beginning at 8:00 p.m. ET/ 5:00 p.m. PT.  The Sunday Daytime Emmy Awards will be streamed live on Facebook Live, Twitter, the NATAS website (www.emmyonline.tv), and the KNEKTtv platform.

The Lifetime Achievement Emmy this year goes to "Days of our Lives" actors Bill and Susan Seaforth Hayes.

"It's unbelievable because I never remember watching TV when Susan wasn't on," NATAS Senior VicePresident David Michaels said backstage at the Creative Arts Ceremony. "A lot of people don't realize how much and how often they've seen Bill... many don't know it was Bill that sang the "Ballad of Davey Crockett." It was a gold record, "The Ballad of Davey Crockett." [The song reached #1 in 1955.]  Susan is the only person who has been on all decades of "Days of our Lives" so Diedre Hall is going to present that to them which is so sweet because they're really friends. I like that they are friends because it really means something."

As far as what to expect on Sunday night, Michaels said, "You can expect a major anniversary celebration of the Daytime Emmys which is turning 45 and "The Young and the Restless" is turning 45. "General Hospital" is turning 55, "Wheel of Fortune" is turning 35 and it's been 50 years since we first saw Mr.Rogers. It's a big celebration with great retro clips. We'll have some surprises from the past and people we haven't seen for a while. It's very exciting.

'The Gospel According to Andre' in theaters May 25, 2018

A new film about fashion icon Andre Leon Talley is coming to theaters next month. Magnolia Pictures will release "The Gospel According to Andre" in theaters on May 25, 2018.

Check out the trailer followed by a Q&A with Talley and the director during #TIFF17 below:

André Leon Talley has been a fixture in the world of fashion for so long that it’s difficult to imagine a time when he wasn’t defining the boundaries of great style. Director, Kate Novack’s portrait, "The Gospel According to André" takes viewers on an emotional journey from André’s roots growing up in the segregated Jim Crow South to become one of the most influential tastemakers and fashion curators of our times.

Novack’s film draws fascinating, heretofore unexplored connections, between the elegance of André’s beloved grandmother and the Black Church of his youth and his later iconic, barrier-breaking work at publications like Women’s Wear Daily, W and Vogue. Weaving together a wealth of archival footage from the most glamorous moments in fashion history with André’s poignant reflections on his life and career, The Gospel According to André is a cinematic monument to one of the most unique figures of 20th Century American culture.

Produced by the team who brought viewers The First Monday in May and Page One: Inside The New York Times and featuring commentary from fashion luminaries including Anna Wintour, Marc Jacobs and Tom Ford, "The Gospel According to André" is an indispensable addition to the growing canon of fashion documentary.
