Musso and Frank's Celebrates 100th Anniversary in Hollywood

Musso & Frank Grill celebrates 100th anniversary.
Hollywood restaurant, Musso & Frank Grill, celebrated its 100th anniversary with a star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame and with the release of a new oversized book entitled “The Musso & Frank Grill."

The book chronicles the beloved restaurant’s 100-year history and close connection over the years to both Hollywood the city and Hollywood the entertainment industry institution.

“The Musso & Frank Grill” by writer Michael Callahan and photos by Tina Whatcott Echeverria will be available to the public at the beginning of October at the restaurant and on Amazon.com,
Musso & Frank Grill was founded in 1919 by Frank Toulet, who three years later formed a fateful partnership with a similarly forward-looking restaurateur named Joseph Musso.  Mr. Musso and Mr. Toulet later sold their restaurant to a duo of Italian immigrants named Joseph Carissimi and John Mosso (a coincidentally similar name) and today Musso & Frank is owned and operated by the families of Mr. Mosso’s three granddaughters: John and Cathy Echeverria and their son Mark Echeverria; Steve and Anne Jones; and Richard and Kristen Kohlmeyer.

The sight was featured in the 2019 movie "Once Upon A Time in Hollywood" starring Leonardo DeCaprio and Brad Pitt, written and directed by Quentin Tarantino.

Tom Holland's Spider-Man Re-teaming With Marvel For Third Movie

Tom Holland stars as Spider-Man.
Photo: Sony
Tom Holland can breathe a sigh of relief.  The next movie in the franchise will be jointly produced by Sony and Marvel.  The two companies announced that Marvel Studios and its president, Kevin Feige, will produce the third film in the Spider-Man: Homecoming series. Holland will reprise his role as the high school teen is still trying to figure not only his abilities but also life as a superhero.

“I am thrilled that Spidey’s journey in the MCU will continue, and I and all of us at Marvel Studios are very excited that we get to keep working on it," Feige said in a statement. "Spider-Man is a powerful icon and hero whose story crosses all ages and audiences around the globe. He also happens to be the only hero with the superpower to cross cinematic universes, so as Sony continues to develop their own Spidey-verse you never know what surprises the future might hold.”

Marvel has licensed the rights to Spider-Man to Sony for nearly two decades, an agreement they forged prior to Disney’s $4 billion acquisition of the comics company in 2009.

Ellen DeGeneres To Produce Original Series For HBO Max

Four original series by Ellen DeGeneres coming to HBO Max
HBO Max is set to launch projects with Ellen DeGeneres. The three original shows are heading straight to series: Ellen's Home Design Challenge, First Dates Hotel, and Little Ellen, as well as docu-series Finding Einstein in development. DeGeneres announced the pickups today on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and didn't stop there. She also surprised her audience with a two-year HBO Max subscription in celebration of the news.

"In Ellen's Home Design Challenge," design aficionado DeGeneres is giving eight forward-thinking designers the chance to push their creativity to the limit. DeGeneres will be on hand to weigh in on each challenge and provide humorous, colorful commentary. The series is produced by Warner Bros. Unscripted & Alternative Television and A. Smith & Co. Productions in association with Telepictures and A Very Good Production, with DeGeneres, Jeff Kleeman and Arthur Smith serving as executive producers.

"Little Ellen" is a 2D animated children's show that explores the world through the eyes of a hilarious and unpredictable seven-year-old Ellen DeGeneres. On her adventures in her musical hometown of New Orleans, Little Ellen takes big risks and makes big mistakes, but she's always able to laugh at herself and bounce back when things don't go as planned. The 40-episode quarter-hour series is produced by Warner Bros. Animation and Ellen Digital Ventures. DeGeneres, Kevin A. Leman II, and Sam Register serve as executive producers. Jennifer Skelly is a co-executive producer and Jason Blackman is a producer.

"First Dates Hotel" takes matchmaking to new heights. Based on the hit UK format devised by Twenty Twenty Productions, Ltd., this charming dating series set at an affluent boutique hotel will find single people from multiple generations gathering for an intensive and tailor-made romantic experience. After fun, amusing and potentially disastrous dates at the hotel restaurant, poolside and under the stars, if the potential lovers like each other, they can choose to stay on for a second date in the hopes of finding out if they're ultimately a match. Produced by Warner Bros. Unscripted & Alternative Television in association with Shed Media, A Very Good Production and Twenty Twenty Productions Limited, DeGeneres, Jeff Kleeman, Pam Healey, and Dan Peirson will serve as executive producers on the project. Previous seasons of the UK series First Dates and First Dates Hotel will also be available on HBO Max.

"Finding Einstein" is an inspiring docu-series, blessed by the Einstein estate, that will seek out, celebrate and support a fresh generation of Einsteins. Some may be a stone's throw away ... others may be in a tiny village halfway around the world... all of them are motivated to live up to Einstein's ideal of changing the world for the better. The series is executive produced by Warner Bros. Unscripted & Alternative Television in association with Telepictures and A Very Good Production, with DeGeneres, Kleeman and Todd Goldman serving as executive producers.

Review: NBC's Must-See Comedy 'Perfect Harmony'

Perfect Harmony premieres Thursday, September 26 on NBC.
NBC continues premiere week by strengthening its Thursday night lineup featuring "Superstore," and "The Good Place" by adding two new comedies "Sunnyside," starring Kal Penn and the must-see ensemble comedy, "Perfect Harmony” starring Bradley Whitford and Anna Camp.

Perfect Harmony” is a comedy about a choir that gets help from a Princeton professor.

Tag Line: When former Princeton music professor Arthur Cochran unexpectedly stumbles into choir practice at a small-town church, he finds a group of singers that are out of tune in more ways than one. Despite the ultimate clash of sensibilities, Arthur and his newfound cohorts may just be the perfect mix of individuals to help each other reinvent and rediscover a little happiness, just when they all need it most.

Emmy-winner Bradley Whitford stars along with Anna Camp, Will Greenberg, Tymberlee Hill, Geno Segers, Rizwan Manji, and Spencer Allport.

Think “Glee” for adults as the adults of the small town need to get their lives in order before they can come together. In fact, Adam Anders, one of “Glee’s” executive producers is an EP on the show. “Glee,” which brought high school choirs in the limelight and made everyone remember that their high school days were just like the rest of us – not so bad. "Perfect Harmony" looks at what life after high school.

So does it compare for Anders to work on both projects?

“I think naturally [“Perfect Harmony”] is more grounded,” Anders says on how he approaches the music compared to “Glee.” “The singers in America, if you want to look, are in churches.  Music's incredible in churches.  It's probably better than the music at my kid's school play, normally.  So it's really fun to be able to work with that as a jumping-off point.  And we try to be as grounded as possible, and obviously, there's some wish fulfillment as well.  But I think our rule here is we want it to sound like it would in a good church choir that knows what they're doing.”

Geno Segers stars as Dwayne) on the NBC comedy "Perfect Harmony."

The cast has unique musical roots, especially Geno Segers (Dwayne) who has the deepest baritone in a speaking voice that transitions smoothly into his singing voice on screen. The actor recalls when his vie first dropped. “One morning I scared the hell out of my mama,” Segers recalled. “I was about 12 years old, and I woke up one morning, and I couldn't talk.  She made me some grits.  She's a Southern mother.  She made me some oatmeal, rather.  And then the next morning, I couldn't talk.  She made me some more oatmeal with honey and nuts and cinnamon and nutmeg.  Thought that would be good for my throat, she would say.  Then another morning, she woke up and said I woke up, and she said, "What do you want for breakfast, baby?"  I said, “(making his voice even deeper) Fruit Loops, Mama.”  And from that day on, she just tells that joke at every family gathering.”
Dwayne sings “Wrecking Ball” in his voice lesson from Art which is something to hear. Still with his size, one might think he was built to play football which Segers admits football would have his first career choice.

“You know, I really wanted to be in the NFL, but I just didn't have at that time what it took to be an NFL player at the position I wanted to play,” Seger says.  “I was just about 2/10 of a second too slow, 30 pounds too light, 2 inches too short. Five or 6 more reps on the 225-pound bench press, I could have gotten in, but I'm actually thankful now that I didn't get in, because I can still run if I want.  I can still train.  I can still run upstairs.  So it's actually a blessing in disguise.”

“Perfect Harmony” premieres Thursday, September 26 at 8:30 p.m. on NBC.
